Pedro DeSouza

A Working-Class Voice for Rhode Island

Meet Pedro

Pedro DeSouza is running for Congress to give regular Rhode Islanders a voice again. He is not a career politician. He has worked in restaurants, built a small business, and worked his way into a data career after COVID.

Pedro understands what it means to work hard, pay bills, and watch Washington ignore the people carrying this country. He is running to make life more affordable, hold government accountable, protect personal liberty, and put regular people back at the center of our politics.

Policy Platform

We need leaders who fight for working people. We need to build a positive vision for the future. That's what Pedro will do in Congress.

Epstein Class Justice

A reckoning must come for anyone who abused, trafficked, protected, or enabled the abuse of infants, children, women, and men. Power should never be a shield from consequences. No sealed favors. No protected networks. No two-tier justice system. Make sure justice is actually served, public trust is restored, and victims are vindicated.

Housing Affordability

Wall Street cannot be allowed to buy up single-family homes and price regular families out of the market. Big corporations should not be allowed to turn neighborhoods into investment portfolios while working families are locked out of homeownership. Homes should be for families, not Wall Street. No more letting billion-dollar companies outbid parents trying to buy a home, raise their kids, and build a future.

End Forever Wars

We must not inherit the pointless wars of our fathers. America should have learned from Vietnam, but Washington keeps dragging each generation into the same kind of disaster with a different name. No more forever wars. No more blank checks. No more sending our sons and daughters to die for conflicts our leaders cannot explain, cannot justify, and refuse to win. American lives should never be spent to protect a foreign country's interests while our own people are ignored at home.

Healthcare

Sickness should not come with a foreclosure notice. In the richest country on earth, a child getting cancer should never mean a family loses their home. America already spends enough to provide healthcare to everyone, but too much money is wasted on insurance companies, middlemen, inflated bills, and denied claims. Single-payer healthcare would cut out the waste, cover every American, and stop letting sickness destroy working families.

Education

If we don't give kids somewhere safe to go, the streets will raise them. Strong schools, safe after-school programs, mentors, sports, arts, and community activities give young people structure, purpose, and a better path forward. Education does not end when the school bell rings. We should invest in programs that keep kids learning, growing, and surrounded by adults who support their development and help them become stable, capable, and confident young people.

Fiscal Responsibility

The national debt is not just a number. It is Washington robbing working families today and handing our children the bill tomorrow. Inflation is a hidden tax on every paycheck, every grocery bill, every tank of gas, and every family trying to get ahead. It serves the elite class by shrinking the value of their debts while crushing working people who live on wages, savings, and fixed incomes. Congress must stop bankrupting the country and start answering to the taxpayers who fund it.

No AIPAC Money. No Foreign-Interest Lobby Money.

I will not take money from AIPAC, foreign-agent PACs, or lobbying groups that put another country's interests ahead of the American people. Rhode Island's seat in Congress belongs to Rhode Islanders.
